The UNHCR goodwill ambassador’s kid graduated from The Harker School. She was also set to join Columbia University to major in political science and human rights in the fall of 2019. Aside from her connection with the renowned author, Haris was known for her extraordinary Oratory skills.
As a matter of fact, the Harker graduate was even ranked number 1 orator in the USA as per The Intern-National Congress Of Youth Voices. She has also won numerous accolades at national speech and debate championships, including ranking first at the Glenbrooks Tournament in Chicago in 2018.

Furthermore, Roya and Khaled Hosseini’s daughter was named the 2019 National Champion in Original Oratory at the NSDA Speech Debate National Tournament. Not only that, she was also the president and founder of the Tech Museum of Innovation’s Student Board in San José.
Khaled Hosseini’s Daughter Came Out As Transgender
In July 2022, the acclaimed writer posted a monochrome photo of his first child along with a long message on his social media account. The heartwarming note disclosed how the novelist is delighted to have two beautiful daughters following Haris coming out as transgender. The proud dad further added that he has not been prouder of his eldest, who has taught their family so much about bravery, truth, and what it means to live authentically.
Acknowledging the challenges trans people face, the author mentioned he knew about Haris’ journey since last year and has watched her navigate some very trying personal times. Transitioning is a complicated undertaking emotionally, physically, socially, and psychologically. But his beloved girl has met each challenge with grace, patience, and wisdom.
The humanitarian also pulled out an old picture featuring himself and little Haris. The former concluded by expressing his support and assuring his child that he would be by her side every step of the way. Additionally, the eldest Hosseini will have her family stand behind her as well.
