Nicole and Boris, the happy couples, took the wedding vows after being in a romantic relationship for over five years in May 2005. Their marriage ceremony took place at Boris’ grandma’s home in Gundelfingen, Germany.
The married duo welcomed their first child together, a daughter, Sophie, one month before their wedding on 6 March 2005. The proud parents had announced about the birth of their little princess through their respective social networking sites.
Born With Spina Bifida
Nicole Ari Parker’s daughter with Boris Kodjoe, Sophie, was born with a severe form of Spina Bifida, a congenital disorder when the spine and the spinal cord don’t form properly. After her birth in 2005, doctors told her parents that she would need surgery to detach her spinal cord from a mass called Lipoma. After the surgery, Sophie became able to live a relatively healthy life.
However, there were still a few complications from the Spina Bifida. One of them is a severe urinary tract infection. She required self-catheterization to get her urine out. Also, Nicole and Boris tried alternative therapies for their little girl. They tried acupressure massage, laser acupuncture, and probiotic supplements to encourage Sophie a healthy digestive tract.
Now fifteen years old, Sophie proved to be a little trooper as she grew and dealt with the disorder. Her parents were so proud of her strength. On the 10th birthday of Sophie, her dad, Boris, wrote an open letter via social media praising her and letting the world know how proud he is of his daughter’s durability.
Her Parents Began An NGO In Her Name
Sophie’s parents are real heroes. In honor of their little princess Sophie, who was a patient of Spina Bifida at birth, Nicole and Boris founded a non-profit organization named Sophie’s Voice Foundation. The mission of SVF is to raise the quality of life of children and adults diagnosed with Spina bifida and raise awareness of its prevention.
Moreover, SVF educates multicultural communities worldwide on the importance of families to build healthy lifestyle habits one day at a time. Furthermore, Boris and Nicole’s organization established The Center for Spina Bifida Research, Prevention, and Policy (CSB) in December 2011.
As Sophie and her brother Nicolas got older, their interest in some of their parents’ initiatives and projects grew. Thus, Sophie’s parents decided to expand the work of SVF to accommodate some of their children’s social and cultural activism interests. After June 2019, Nicole and Boris changed the name of their foundation to the Kodjoe Family Foundation.
Has A Younger Brother
The beautiful daughter of Nicole and Boris, Sophie, is a blessed sister of a handsome brother. Her parents gave birth to her younger brother, Nicolas Neruda Kodjoe, on 31 October 2006 in Atlanta, Georgia. The overjoyed mom and dad of Sophie introduced him to the world via their website.
