Women in sports are not a new thing; with time, the popularity of the league featuring them has increased. The National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) is at the top of the USA league system and comprises 12 teams. Portland Thorns FC is one of the NWSL teams, the 2022 NWSL Champions, and one of the players from the team is set to give her best in the 2023 season, Crystal Dunn.
Born Crystal Alyssis Dunn in New York, Dunn plays as a midfielder for the Thorns and a defender of the United States Women’s National Team (USWNT). Her playing skills have increased her fan base, and people are curious to know who Crystal Dunn’s husband is. To many of her suitors’ dismay, she is happily married to Pierre Soubrier.
Met Through Work
The Thorns midfielder found the love of her life at work. The couple met in 2015 when she was playing for Washington Spirit, the NWSL team, and he was the athletic trainer of the team. Furthermore, she could not be named to the 2015 World Cup roster and had to watch the games at a Maryland bar.
Dunn revealed that she needed a watching partner who knew the game, someone she could vent to and cheer with. Pierre was an athletic trainer and lived in the area. So, Dunn used to text him to come down and watch a game. The duo bonded over their love for the game, and their friendship started. The NWSL star noted that although she missed the World Cup, she gained her future husband.
2018, A Memorable Year For Dunn
Crystal and Pierre, who met in 2015, got engaged in July 2017. The athlete shared the news of her engagement on her Instagram, and on December 29, 2018, the lovebirds walked down the aisle on Long Island. Moreover, she posted a photo of the duo on her Instagram with a thoughtful caption.
2018 was a memorable year for Dunn, not just because she got to marry the love of her life but also because she achieved a lot. Her then-team, North Carolina Courage, won the NWSL championship and the NWSL Shield. Likewise, the team became the first in NWSL history to win both, and Pierre Soubrier‘s wife played a vital role in the team.
Additionally, Mrs. Soubrier was the starting left back on the USWNT team, along with Alyssa Naeher, Emily Sonnett, Alex Morgan, and others, that achieved its eighth consecutive berth at the Women’s World Cup at the Concacaf Women’s Championship.
Crystal Dunn’s Husband Is A Doting Dad
After all these happily married years, the Soubrier couple welcomed a child together. In November 2021, Crystal Dunn’s husband shared a photo of cardboard with May 2022 written and a pair of baby shoes, suggesting they were expecting their first child. Likewise, the player also shared the good news on her social media. Finally, the Soubriers were blessed with a baby boy, Marcel Jean Soubrier, on May 20, 2022, at 2:41 AM.

The athlete and her spouse shared the good news on Instagram. Fellow teammates Morgan, Kristie Mewis, Midge Purce, and several other celebrities and fans congratulated them. Their little son is already loved; hopefully, he will have a wonderful time growing up.
Pierre Is An Athletic Trainer
Originally from Aurignac, Franch, Soubrier is a certified Athletic Trainer, Soccer Specific Rehab and Strength & Conditioning coach. He was named the Head Athletic Trainer for the Thorns in January 2019. Furthermore, in October 2020, Crystal was traded to Thorns from OL Reign in exchange for Casey Murphy. It has been reported that she sought to move to Portland to be closer to him.
Prior to that, Crystal’s hubby worked as the head athletic trainer for Spirit and the Academy Head of Sports Medicine and Sports Performace at Colorado Rapids. Unfortunately, in January 2023, the Portland Thorns fired Crystal Dunn’s husband and Sophie Clough, the team’s assistant coach, after an NWSL investigation found them violating league policies. He was found guilty of providing codeine to players during a playoff match on multiple occasions.
As a result, Pierre was suspended by the NWSL and was made ineligible to return at least until the end of the 2023 season. He apologized and held himself accountable, and posted a statement on Twitter. In addition, his wife took to social media and addressed the issue.
