According to TMZ, the boxer filed for divorce citing incompatibility and conflict of personalities as the main reason for divorce. The estranged couple separated in March of 2018 and were no longer living as husband and wife.

But the news only broke out in 2019 when Holm filed for divorce. Holly had changed her legal name to Holly Holm-Kirkpatrick after marriage, so she asked the judge to restore her maiden name once the divorce is finalized.
