The craze for the Formula 1 race is laudable. Many race car drivers dream of becoming F1 drivers one day. This article will discuss two well-known race car drivers who are brothers. Meet Logan Sargeant, the newest addition to F1, and his elder brother Dalton Sargeant, a former NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver.

Logan is creating headlines after being the first US racer to represent F1. The lack of American drivers in Formula 1 isn’t due to a lack of talent but due to obvious eurocentrism in F1. But Logan Sargent managed to break the mold and get the stars and stripes of the US back on the Formula 1 grid for the first time since 2015. So let’s dive into the life of two Sargeant brothers.

Meet Dalton Sargeant

Daniel Dalton Sargeant, mostly known as Dalton Sargeant, was born in Boca Raton, Florida, on March 25, 1998. He started his career early at the age of 9. And by the time he was 13 years old, Dalton moved to Switzerland with his brother Logan to compete in the European open-wheel series.

In 2015, Sargeant pursued TUDOR United SportsCar Championship‘s Rolex 24 at Daytona but was declined. The reasons for the decline were his age and inexperience with sports cars. Sargeant was only 16 years old then, but the race required the driver’s age to be 17. Regarding age, few exceptions have been made in the past, but Dalton’s lack of experience kept him away from Rolex 24.

Later in the same year, Sargeant signed with HScott Motorsports to drive the No. 51 Chevrolet SS in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East and finished in second place at New Smyrna Speedway. Then, on August 12, 2015, Sargeant announced his Camping World Truck Series debut at Bristol Motor Speedway for Wauters Motorsports.

Sargeant had a promising career ahead of him. In 2016, he partook in 15 races for Venturini Motorsports with one win, ten top five, and twelve top ten finishes. He was even named the 2016 ARCA Rookie of the Year. Dalton joined GMS Racing for an entire 2018 season on January 12, 2018. Unfortunately, on August 22, 2018, Dalton announced that he had left the team and was replaced by Spencer Gallagher.

The fans were heartbroken by this news. But regardless of what happened, fans were optimistic about Dalton’s return. Unfortunately, Dalton has never raced again. But looking at his Instagram, Sargeant seems to be living a happy life apart from the racing fields. And whatever endeavor Dalton may approach, his friend, family, and fans will be happy to see the former truck series driver gear up in his life.

Logan Sargeant’s Racing Career

Just like Dalton, his younger brother Logan Sargeant had an affinity towards racing since childhood. Logan started racing when he was six years old after getting a Kart for Christmas. He was born on December 31, 2000, in Florida.

Logan started his career journey from Karting and lower formula series before reaching F1. He kicked off his motorsport career in Karting in Rotax Micro Max. Over the years, Sargeant kept progressing and partook in some European championships as well. He won the CIK-FIA World Championship, the most high-profile championship he had racked up among the others.

Sargeant joined Team Motopark in 2016 and moved into formula racing from Karting. He made his single-seater debut in the Formula 4 UAE Championship. In 2018, Logan made the full-time switch to the Formula Renault Eurocup with R-ace GP. The Florida native eventually upgraded to FIA Formula 2 championship in 2021 with HWA Racelab. He finished the race in the 16th but retired in the second sprint due to a mechanical problem.

Among the many achievements that Logan had received in his 14 years of a racing career, he became the first American driver to win a Formula 2 race at the British Grand Prix. Finally, in October 2021, Sargeant’s addition to the Williams Driver Academy as an F1 driver was announced. Apart from the racers, learn about the motorsport designer and engineer James Allison.

To be representing the US in the F1 race is a dream come true for Logan, but it quickly became every American’s dream as Logan would become the first American on the F1 grid after Alexander Ross in 2015 and the first full-time American driver in F1 since Scott Speed in 2007. So all the American fans of the F1 race are rooting for Sargeant this season.

To be able to compete in F1, Logan first had to obtain the super license points, meaning he had to finish at least fifth or sixth without any penalty points in the F2 championship. Sargeant successfully secured his super license points at F2’s Abu Dhabi feature race. Logan’s signing to Williams Racing was confirmed on November 20, 2022.

As for Logan Sargeant’s elder brother Dalton Sargeant, he was seen sharing the news of his brother’s signing to the F1 race team on his Twitter page. Dalton must be proud of his younger brother. Dalton is often seen sharing Logan’s achievements and milestones. The Sargeant brothers share a good bond.
