Ashley Hatch is one of the gems on the United States Women’s National Soccer Team (USWNT), who has contributed significantly to the team’s success. She plays as a forward for the National Women’s Soccer League club Washington Spirit. She has been playing for the team since 2018.

Hatch was picked by North Carolina Courage as the second overall pick in the 2017 NWSL College Draft. She had formerly played for the BYU Cougars in collegiate soccer. However, Hatch’s journey to success didn’t happen right away. She had to put in much hard work and dedication to be where she is today. So, we detail Ashley Hatch’s motivational journey to the US Women’s Soccer team in this article.

Worked Hard Since Childhood

Ashley Hatch was born Ashley Marie Hatch on May 25, 1995, in San Dimas, California, United States. She was raised alongside her three siblings, Mckenna Hatch Falagrady, Braxton Hatch, and Brianna Hatch, by her supportive parents, Barry Hatch and Anne Marie Hatch.

Ashely was passionate about soccer from a very young age. At 18, she competed for the Brigham Young University (BYU) Cougars women’s soccer team in the West Coast Conference from 2013 to 2016. She ended her collegiate career with 75 league appearances and 47 goals.

Made A Comeback After Injury

As a BYU junior, Ashley Hatch started 10 of the 13 matches she participated in in 2015. However, she suffered a fatal injury that kept her out of the game for most of the season. She registered two assists and four goals, notably three match-deciding goals before her injury. Despite the injury, she led the conference in shots per game and overall shots.

Ashley quickly worked on her recovery and made an impressive comeback. Then, she ended her senior year by getting ranked No.7 on Top Drawer Soccer’s list of best players. In addition, Hatch was rated as the best player in the West Coast Conference by Top Drawer Soccer in 2015 and 2016. The talented soccer player was also named a semifinalist for the Hermann Trophy.

Long Years Of Consistency

Ashley Hatch has put in a lot of effort over the past few years to be at the top of her game consistently. The American striker has shown unreal dedication since she started playing professionally in 2017. She joined the North Carolina Courage on April 10, 2017, and scored her first goal against FC Kansas City in June 2017. Overall, Hatch, who made her debut for the club on April 17, 2017, against Portland Thorns FC, scored seven goals for the Courage in 24 matches.

The American athlete eventually signed for Melbourne City, the reigning W-League champions, in October 2017 and scored twice in 14 matches. She was transferred to the Washington Spirit in January 2018. The clinical forward contributed significantly, which helped her team reach the NWSL championship in 2021. Hatch, who finished the regular season by scoring ten goals, earned NWSL Golden Boot on October 31, 2021.

Made It To The National Team

There wouldn’t be any motivational tales of hardships if it were simple to succeed. Ashley Hatch is the epitome of dedication which is why she got her first call-up from the national team in 2016. Hatch earned her senior national team debut for the US in an international friendly against Switzerland.

Contributions Made Outside Of Soccer

Ashley Hatch has made significant contributions to Latter-day Saints in addition to being a top-tier soccer player. She is a devoted follower who increased awareness of the soccer program at Brigham Young University, which the Church owns. Similarly, Hatch has served as a sort of advocate for the Church with fans and other players as one of only a few Latter-day Saints in the top female league in the world.

The 27-year-old has participated in Sunday lessons and weekly youth events for the Seneca Maryland Stake and Seneca Ward Young Women’s group. She aims to improve her skills, help the Spirit reach the league final, and qualify for her nation’s Olympic team.

All in all, Ashley Hatch is currently one of the USWNT’s top soccer players, but she didn’t achieve success overnight. Instead, she has put much effort over a long period to get where she is now. As a result, Ashley Hatch has created a successful soccer journey, and we can learn a lot from her career.
