It All Started At A Store
In any relationship or marriage, the first encounter will always be memorable. Any couple reminisces about the special moment every time. Similarly, for the Euphoria star, his love story started in quite a different and unusual place. In 2005, the actor had just walked into his local Walgreens in Berkeley, California.
Colman had gone there in search of a Queen Helene mud mask. There, he saw Raul. Reminiscing the first time he laid eye on his partner, he recalled that Raul had long dark hair, a lip piercing, and his eyes attracted him the most. Furthermore, Domingo was on a call with a friend, and he felt a sudden urge to hang up.
The actor and Aktanov locked gazes. Raul, who was arm in arm with an irritated woman, was dragged out of the Walgreen by her, and on the other hand, Colman tried waving him back but could not succeed. He was dazed by Raul, and he wandered off and somehow ended up around the aisle of a nearby Blockbuster.
Furthermore, Colman Domingo’s husband had gone there to get an “I’m sorry I’m late” chocolate bar. Apparently, he and his friend were going to a party and got lost. After reaching the party, he drank Chardonnay to try forgetting Colman’s face that he’d seen.
The day after the encounter, Raul posted on Craiglist, and it began, “I saw you outside of Walgreens in Berkley….” A few days later, Domingo found the post while he was searching for a used iPod Touch, and he had gone to Missed Connections. Recalling the moment he found the post, the actor said he jumped out of his chair.
A Beginning Of Happily Ever After
After the Fear of Walking Dead star found the post, he emailed Raul. Raul had returned home from work, and when he checked his Yahoo account, he saw an email that read, “To the sweet angel with the most arresting eyes..”
Shortly after, the pair planned their first official date. It was at a little bar located in San Fransisco. As per the actor, the couple asked each other questions in “Barbara Walters-style.” Then, after Raul insisted, the duo spent the night together. Later, Colman leaned over when he thought his partner was asleep and confessed his feeling.
As time passed, the smitten pair became inseparable from one another. During their first summer together, the lovely duo moved to Juneau, Alaska. There, Raul Aktanov’s beau got an acting gig, and he took an assistant costume designer job on the shoot so that he could accompany him as well. Then, in November, the lovebirds moved to New York, and Aktanov proposed.
In 2014, the engaged duo exchanged vows. It was a small casual wedding ceremony that was disguised as a house party. The couple welcomed 25 people over, and each one was greeted by saying, “Welcome to our wedding.” The actor wore a Hawaiian shirt, and the newly wedded lovebirds danced until four in the morning.
Raul and Colman are still head over heels for one another. The happily ever after, which started in 2014, is still continuing. With a smooth blend of romance, the smitten pair are enjoying their marital bliss.
