She was also honored by Street Grace on 9 March 2018 for her work in fighting domestic minor sex trafficking.

Cheryl and Ernie Johnson Jr.’s son, Michael Johnson, was adopted from a Romanian orphanage. Unfortunately, he had Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and sadly passed away in 2021.
According to Yahoo! Sports, it was Cheryl’s idea to adopt Michael, and as a supportive husband, Ernie agreed and adopted the then 3-year-old boy who needed special care. With this selfless decision, they made a difference, and that too a beautiful one.
Cheryl Johnson could have chosen to show some pity and moved forward with her happy and comfortable life, but she didn’t. Instead, Ernie Johnson Jr.’s wife tracked down the boy through television reports of Romanian orphanages and added the first adoptee to the Johnson home.
Speaking of their other kids, Ernie and Cheryl’s daughter Carmen was adopted from Paraguay, while Ashley and Allison were adopted through foster care.
Well, the Johnson pair are not only proud parents, but they are also very protective grandparents of four: Katie Johnson, Amy Pruitt Johnson, Everett Johnson, and Bennett Johnson. Ernie regularly shares photos of his grandchildren on Instagram.
From his Instagram posts, his grandchildren seem to be close with their famous uncle Chuck. Well, uncle Chuck is actually Charles Barkley, a former professional basketball player and current television analyst.
