Chris Cornell, born Christopher John Cornell, was a famous singer and musician of American nationality. He was known for his profession as the lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist, songwriter, and primary lyricist for Audioslave and Soundgarden. In addition, he is considered one of the key figures of the 1990s grunge movement. Unfortunately, we lost the legend on May 18, 2017, and his death was ruled a suicide by hanging.

Chris and Vicky proved how their marriage was similar to “till death do us part.” Their first encounter took place in January 2003 at Hotel Plaza Athenee in Paris. Chris was touring with Audioslave, and Karayiannis was one of the attendees of the after-show party of the band. When the late singer saw his then-future wife, he fell for her instantly.
After that, the duo met again in London, and that’s where their love blossomed. He used to surprise her with chocolates, flowers, and candles. Then, in 2003, the duo was at the Beverly Hills Hotel when the musician went down on one knee. He had proposed to her with a silver ring that Vicky had been wearing as a pendant.
A few weeks later, Vicky Karayiannis’ boyfriend formally proposed to her with a Harry Winston engagement ring at a French bar. Interestingly, the singer had to go out of his way to convince Vicky’s family that he was different than their idea of a musician. Then, on May 8, 2004, the engaged duo tied the knot in a civil wedding held in Paris.

On September 18, 2004, the couple became parents for the first time after their daughter Toni Cornell arrived. A year later, in December 2005, Chris Cornell’s spouse gave birth to their second child, Christopher Nicholas Cornell. The pair must have been ecstatic upon the arrival of their babies.
Vicky is not only a proud mother of her two kids but also cares a lot about her stepchild. Her late hubby, Chris, was married to Susan Silver before marrying her. The former duo welcomed a daughter, Lilian Jean Cornell-Silver, on June 28, 2000. They must share a close bond.

Vicky Sued The Surviving Members Of Soundgarden
In February 2021, Mrs. Cornell filed a new lawsuit against Soundgarden surviving members, claiming that Kim Thayil, Hunter Benedict Shepherd, and Matt Cameron offered less than a $300,000 buyout. In addition, she sought a judicial valuation of the late singer’s interest in the band’s assets, like future touring revenue and merchandise.
As per the lawsuit, the band’s buyout offer was not allegedly in good faith, and the figure that was proposed did not amount to the royalties received by Vicky from its master recordings in 2018 alone. It also added that they made their buyout offer to the singer after receiving an offer from a music investor, who offered to buy its master recordings for $16 million.
Soundgarden responded to her lawsuit, and as per the statement, the buyout offer that was demanded by the Estate had been grossly mischaracterized and that their clarity would come out in court. In addition, this was not the first time Chris Cornell’s wife had sued the remaining band members. In December 2019, she sued them over missing royalty payments.
In February 2020, Soundband filed a response that stated that the recording related to royalties is their property. Apart from the band, Vicky also filed a lawsuit against a doctor in 2018, who allegedly over-prescribed her late spouse drugs before his death. The court documents filed by attorneys for her and her children stated that medication, precisely the anti-anxiety drug lorazepam, which Dr. Robert Koblin prescribed, led Chris to show erratic behavior before his demise.
In May 2021, both parties agreed to settle the lawsuit, but it was made confidential.
Never Fails To Keep His Legacy Alive
Following the death of her hubby, Vicky must have had challenging moments. The family must have been devastated. But as time passed, they have kept his legacy alive. Time and again, Chris’ widow shares adorable pictures with him and writes heartfelt messages.
For instance, on his fifth death anniversary, Vicky shared a photo of him, mentioning how much she misses him. She also thanked his fans for loving him and urged them to play their favorite Cornell song and throw their love up in the air. In a separate post, she shared a video and mentioned how he would be proud to watch their babies grow up.
