Celebrities and the WWE go hand-in-hand. After all, WWE wrestlers are celebrities in their own right, so, unsurprisingly, some of the biggest names in Hollywood and sport welcome the opportunity to appear in the WWE’s center ring. Celebrities have played various roles over the years in WrestleMania, creating a huge spectacle watched by millions in over 180 countries worldwide. Here we take a look at some of the best celebrity appearances on the WWE.
John Cena
John Cena is the face of the WWE and one of its most successful wrestlers. When it comes to wrestling betting, Cena was always a favorite. Although he spends more time filming movies like the Suicide Squad than wrestling these days, he’s still a favorite anytime he enters the ring. Like the best wrestlers, Cena worked his way up from the bottom, starting his wrestling career with Ohio State Wrestling. His father was a wrestling announcer and commissioner of East Coast Championship Wrestling, which undoubtedly influenced his son’s career.
Given how often Cena has appeared on the WWE, it isn’t easy to choose his best appearance. However, we’d argue that Cena’s most famous WWE appearance was probably 2011’s Money in the Bank against CM Punk. That summer, fans’ interest in the WWE was waning until CM reignited it with his Pipebomb promo. The main event at Allstate Arena in Chicago electrified the home crowd, and Cena and CM delivered one of the best fights in WWE history.
Although Cena didn’t win the match, it was a masterclass in the art of pro wrestling that’s still referenced today.
Shaquille O’Neal vs. Big Show
Legendary basketball player Shaquille O’Neal has appeared on the WWE many times over the years. Shaq’s so good that he could’ve been one of the WWE’s best wrestlers in another life. After all, he has everything WWE fans want—charisma, strength, attitude, and a great sense of humor.
Although it wasn’t an official match, Shaq’s altercation with Big Show stands out as one of his best all-time appearances on Wrestlemania. Shaq was one of the few men who could match Big Show’s size, and the two giants standing nose to nose got the crowd excited. It was a sight to behold.
Shaq performed admirably by grabbing Big Show by the neck and performing a one-shoulder block, all while looking extremely intimidating. The fans loved it, and the rest is history.
Kim Kardashian
Fashion icon and reality show star Kim Kardashian appeared on Wrestlemania 24 in 2008. Kardashian took to the center ring as host of one of the biggest events in wrestling almost fifteen years ago. While introducing the special step ladder match, wrestler Mr. Kennedy rudely interrupted her. The video of her hosting Wrestlemania recently resurfaced on the internet, leaving fans wondering if Kardashian would be willing to host another match in the future. We’ll have to wait and see.
Bad Bunny
The Puerto Rican reggaeton king and Grammy award winner is a huge fan of the WWE. He’s such a big fan that he once made a music video featuring WWE superstar Booker T. The duo performed the song at the Royal Rumble, bringing the crowd to its feet.
That was the beginning of Bad Bunny’s Wrestlemania journey. When Bad Bunny’s set was over, the Miz made his grand entrance into the Royal Rumble, smashing Bunny’s DJ set with the Money in the Bank briefcase. Bunny wasn’t intimidated and confronted the Wiz and his partner John Morrison.
From there, Priest eliminated the two men, and Bunny closed it out with a top rope attack onto the floor. The storyline continued for months, with Bad Bunny eventually winning the 24/7 championship belt, which he proudly displayed during an appearance on Saturday Night Live.
