Mike Sievert’s wife, Suzanne Sievert, is a former English as a Second Language (ESL) instructor at Washington State-based Bellevue College. She had been educating English Language Learners in private ESL community colleges and schools since 1997.

However, after more than a decade of serving as an ESL instructor, Mike Sievert’s beau, Suzanne, met herself at a personal and professional crossroads in 2012. At the time, she was working at Bellevue College as a part-time teacher and full-time mom while her kids with Mike were growing up.

So, when Suzanne’s children reached the period when they were moving to their own separate apartments, she began thinking about that empty nest thing that seemed really scary to her. So, Suzanne decided to quit her career as an educator at the college and found a non-profit organization named English Language Learners Alliance (ELLA) as something different and interesting.

Furthermore, Mike Sievert’s partner, Suzanne Sievert, graduated with a degree in Education from the Harvard University in 1992. The graduate of Stratford High School, Suzanne attended the College of Arts & Sciences of the University of Pennsylvania from 1987 to 1991. Suzanne met her forever love, Mike Sievert, in the same college.

Founder Of English Language Learners Alliance

After retiring as a college and school teacher, Mike Sievert’s wife, Suzanne Sievert, founded ELLA  in Bellevue, Washington, on a straightforward but powerful idea. She established the non-profit organization inspired by something she regularly heard from her students throughout all of her years as an English instructor. Her students craved more opportunities to learn English outside of the classroom.

Suzanne’s organization’s first program was a lunchtime discussion group that gathered at the crossroads shopping center in Bellevue. But, in the present, it is entirely a volunteer-run organization that focuses on connecting non-native speakers with opportunities for improving their English skills. Their program also helps international visitors and immigrants improve their knowledge of American culture through cultural, educational, and community events.

During an interview, the former director of ELLA, Suzanne, said that both of her parents were the main supporters and inspiration behind her success. Moreover, she credited her husband, Mike Sievert, for being an amazing supporter through her whole journey and giving her the confidence to found ELLA.

A Mother To Two Boys With Mike Sievert

Suzanne Sievert’s marriage with Mike Sievert has given her the privilege to become a doting mom to two talented boys. Both of Mike Sievert’s children, Jonny Sievert and Nate Sievert are an adult now and are flourishing in their respective careers.

One of Suzanne Sievert and Mike Sievert’s sons, Nate, is currently a Mountain Guide at International Mountain Guides. Both Nate and his brother, Johnny, are big fans of sports.
