The talented goalkeeper began his football journey in 2000 with VfL Wangen, a youth team. He played for the team until 2002 and switched to VfB Stuttgart.
Similarly, Odysseas entered the senior league in 2012 when he signed on as a goalkeeper for VfB Stuttgart II. During the four years with the team, he appeared in sixty-eight matches as a goal defense.
Furthermore, Vlachodimos played for Vfb Stuugart’s first team and Panathinaikos from 2015 – 2018 before entering the Primeira Liga in Portugal to play for Benfica.

When the fantastic goalkeeper came in Lisbon, teammate Bruno Varela appeared to be the starter for the 2018–19 campaign. However, his solid preseason play persuaded manager Rui Vitoria to start him.
Vlachodimos signed a four-year contract with Premier League team Nottingham Forest on September 1, 2023, for a reported sum of €4.9 million, with the possibility of add-ons raising that amount to €9.3 million.
On November 5, 2023, Odysseas made his Premier League debut against Aston Villa, winning 2-0 while maintaining a clean sheet.
Talking about his national-level career, the German national played for his birth country until 2018 and appeared in over thirty games. However, he began starting for Greece in 2018 and has played around 40 games as of February 2024.
