Dan DeVos’ Daughters Started A Campaign Together

Philanthropy is a specialty of the DeVos family. Continuing that, Dan’s baby girls, Cassandra and Sydney created Nana’s Run. They started the campaign as a tribute to their beloved maternal grandmom, Char VandeLaan, whom they called Nana. She passed away in March 2014 after a vigorous battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.

In October 2013, the DeVos siblings’ grandmother was diagnosed with ALS, and since then, they have made a commitment to spread knowledge about the disease and collect money for ongoing research in Michigan, ALS patients, and their families, and to support patient and physician education. Additionally, their objective is to form a supportive community for those affected by ALS in West Michigan.

In May 2014, the first Nana’s Run was held, and it took place in downtown Grand Rapids. It was organized in partnership with the ALS Association Michigan Chapter, the Daniel and Pamella DeVos Foundation, and Mercy Health Hauenstein Center for Neurosciences.
