Marvel’s Phase 5: Why VFX Artists Are Fed Up

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has dominated the box office for over ten years now, and many viewers feel the superhero fatigue. However, viewers aren’t the only ones to feel they haven’t seen something new in a while. Some anonymous VFX artists expressed their concerns with the work that awaits them.

If you’ve experienced similar feelings and are looking to entertain yourself, maybe you should try playing at a real money online casino. In any case, let’s find out together what Disney has in store for us and why it created such a reaction from the VFX industry.

Marvel Announced Phases Five and Six!

Phase five hasn’t even begun, and Marvel has already announced phase six, with 11 new releases. The fifth phase of the MCU will begin with Ant-Man: Quantumania in early 2023 and end in 2024 with Thunderbolts. However, we already know the projects from the next phase, with the long-awaited Fantastic Four (a movie fans are still waiting for). We also know there’ll be two new Avengers films, The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars.

The problem is that the house of wonders has been struggling for several years, especially since Endgame ended and the major stars left. The Avengers currently don’t have an Iron Man, and the new attempt at making The Falcon into the new Captain America has disappointed fans.

VFX Artists Are Overwhelmed

During an interview, a VFX veteran who worked for Marvel projects ever since the first Avengers movie in 2012 confessed the feeling was shared throughout the industry because of the insane amount of work waiting for the ever-so-brave VFX artists. With 11 new movies that’ll require more CGI shots than the whole industry combined and the tight deadlines imposed by Marvel, it’s understandable that some artists have a hard time.

Why Does It Matter?

The issue with this situation is that VFX artists became the most important part of the creative process. Without them, there’s no God of Thunder or Alien Worlds to show to the audience, which could result in a halt of production. Marvel’s schedule is extremely tight, forcing these third-party companies to crunch and overwork to put the movie out on time.

It’s a warning for Disney, which has been dominating the entertainment world. A sign that they shouldn’t forget who creates the magic. So, what do you think? Will they get on track?
