Barry Eugene Carter, an R&B singer and songwriter, was professionally known by his stage name Barry White. The two-time Grammy award winner is no longer with us. However, he is still alive through his velvet-voiced songs and extraordinary works.

Married For Three Years
Barry White tied the knot with Betty Smith in 1962. At the time of their marriage, the singer was just nineteen years old. Moreover, the ex-pair was married for just three years when their ever-increasing love started to fall short. As a result, the former couple legally ended their relationship in 1965. Although Betty and her ex-husband have not disclosed many details about their marriage, they must have had a happy time together.
Furthermore, as reported by SMH, the late artist and his first wife were childhood sweethearts. In his autobiography, he referred to his first spouse as Mary. Who knows, it might have been Barry White’s nickname for his ex-partner.

Where Is Barry White’s Ex-wife Now?
After separating from her, Betty Smith’s husband married Glodean James in 1974. So, she became the second Mrs. Barry White. The couple met when the late musician signed his spouse and her two band members for the vocal of the album Love Unlimited. However, Barry and Glodean also lived separately from each other from 1988. But the pair were legally married until the death of the singer.

Welcomed Four Children Together
Although the late singer and his first spouse were not together for a long time, they gave birth to a bunch of kids. Barry White’s ex-wife gave birth to four children. All of the kids of the former duo have grown up and might have already started their family of own.
Moreover, Barry and Glodean White were together for over a decade and had four children together. Barry White’s children are Barry White Jr., Nina White, Shaherah White, Brigette White, Melva White, MacKevin White, and Darryl White.
Apart from the children from his two marriages, the late songwriter also has one daughter, Denise Donnell, with Gurtha Allen. Barry White’s daughter was born in 1962 but didn’t discover he was her biological father until 1988. The singer accepted her and later changed her name to Denise White.
Sadly, Betty Smith’s Ex-husband Passed Away
As already stated, the famous singer and songwriter has passed away. He died due to kidney failure at Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre on 4 July 2003. Betty’s husband had been undergoing dialysis treatment and hospitalized since September 2002.
After the artist’s death, his family members and then-girlfriend started battling about his estate. For instance, his girlfriend Katherine Denton claimed her infant daughter was his biological child. Later, paternity tests revealed that the claim was not true, and she lost her case.
In contrast, the late singer’s son, Darryl, sued his stepmother for the estate. He also claimed that he was cut off financially and never allowed to see his father’s will. In addition, Darryl, who is also a singer, believed his stepmom was using his dad’s fortune to live a lavish lifestyle.
Among all this drama, Betty never made any media appearance. Overall, Barry White’s ex-wife must be living a comfortable life. Hopefully, she comes at ease and opens up about her whereabouts and story. We wish her a happy life ahead.
