As per the Russian authorities, Navalny died from sudden death syndrome on February 16, 2024. The syndrome usually involves cardiac issues.

Navalny, 47, was last seen in good health, cracking jokes during a court hearing only a day before his death. The sudden death of the Russian opposition leader has caused significant outrage across the world.

Yulia said in a video: “We will find out how exactly this happened.” She accused the Russian authorities of murdering her husband and hiding his body.

On February 16, Navalnaya addressed her spouse’s demise at the Munich Security Conference in Germany. She said Putin and his allies should be held personally responsible for all the atrocities they have committed in Russia.

Paid For His Courage With His Life

Navalny exposed Putin’s $1.4 Billion mansion, $700 million superyachts, and a 50-acre island retreat near Finland. Similarly, he exposed the corruption of several influential Russian officials.

For more than a decade, Navalny had been a significant threat to Putin and his allies. Therefore, the Russian state media minimally gave airtime to Navalny’s death.

Meanwhile, the authorities across Russia ensured there was no public sign of public support for him. They scooped up flowers and tributes left to Alexei.

Navalny’s supporters gathered outside Russian embassies. Similarly, they protested on other sites in major cities, including London, Paris, Geneva, and New York.

In August 2020, Navalny suffered a Novichok nerve agent poisoning at the end of a trip to Siberia. Five months after medical treatment abroad, Alexei returned to Russia. However, he was immediately arrested and put in jail.

Alexei was transferred to the Arctic Circle Jail (Nicknamed Polar Wolf) after his previous confinement at the Melekhovo colony.

As per reports, Navalny’s health condition worsened after he was denied medical access for years during his prison time.

Yulia Borisovna Navalnaya (nee Abrosimova) was born on July 24, 1976, in Moscow, Soviet Union. Her parents divorced when she was 5.

Yulia first met Alexei in 1998 at a resort in Turkey. At the time, her future husband was working as a lawyer. The pair married in 2000, and afterward, Alexei began his political pursuits.

Alexei and Yulia shared two children: a daughter named Daria and a son named Zakhar.

Yulia supported her husband in his political endeavors as a blogger and activist. Similarly, she took up a prominent role in his efforts, acting as his assistant and secretary.

Outrage After Alexei’s Death In A Russian Prison

US President Joe Biden said Putin was “responsible” for Navalny’s death. Likewise, UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron told the BBC, “There should be consequences”.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky described Putin as a thug as he addressed the death of Alexei.

Alexei’s mother issued an appeal directly to Vladimir Putin for the release of her son’s body. She stood outside the Arctic Penal Colony where Navalny died. However, the Russian authorities said they will not return his body for two weeks while they continue investigating his death.

Meanwhile, Putin has initiated a new criminal case against Navalny’s brother, Oleg Navalny.

While talking to a BBC documentary in 2022, Navalny said, “If they kill me, it means we are incredibly strong.”
