According to the press release, Patel plays Kid, an unnamed young guy who makes a modest living by beating up more well-known fighters for cash every night in an underground fight club while donning a gorilla mask.

The story of the Hindu deity Hanuman served as the inspiration for the movie.

After years of repressed rage, Kid finds a way to infiltrate the enclave of the city’s sinister elite, reads the logline.

The protagonist’s enigmatic, scarred hands unleash an explosive campaign of retribution to get revenge on the individuals who stole everything from him as his childhood trauma boils over.

Meet The Cast And Crew

As the movie takes place in Mumbai, India, most of the cast members include Indian actors such as Pitobash, Vipin Sharma, Sikandar Kher, Sobhita Dhulipala, Nagesh Bhonsle, and Pehan Abdul.

Similarly, Sharlto Copley, Brahim Chab, Joesph Taylor, and Jino A. Samuel are also among the primary cast members of the movie.

Further, the movie is directed by Dev himself, who co-wrote the script with Paul Angunawela and John Collee. Sharone Meir handled the cinematography and the music score by Hauschka.

Netflix awarded Jordan Peele’s Monkey Paw production business the rights to Monkey Man. They quickly jumped on board, collaborating with Universal to create an eye-catching trailer.

As per a knowledgeable source, Netflix’s concerns over their future transactions in India stemmed from the movie’s depiction of a fictional right-wing Hindu Nationalist figure.

The prolonged delay resulted in their decision to return the film to the producers despite having paid more than twice the production cost.

Now that Jordan Peele produced Monkey Man, Universal Pictures will release the film on April 5, 2024.
